The Heart Behind The Mission - Global Education Ministries
Global Education Ministries is a ministry dedicated to exposing communities all across the world to the gospel by starting GOSPEL SATURATED SCHOOLS. Their priorities are building schools that are Affordable, Accessible, and most importantly, Gospel-Saturated. And, their goals are simple: build schools - grow the church. They do this by having gospel-woven instruction, gospel-centered discipline, and gospel-motivated relationships led by gospel-minded examples so that they are faithful in training future Christian leaders who will strengthen the church and ultimately plant more churches.
If you would like to learn more about this ministry, you are invited to a special event, “The Heart Behind The Mission,” hosted by Global Education Ministries on Friday, January 16th, at Impact Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.
This will be a meaningful evening of worship, time in God’s Word, and stories of how God is at work through GEM around the world. The event is open to everyone, and we would especially love for our local Wilmington friends to come out and support the ministry. We would also love for you to invite a friend or two (or 10!) who aren't familiar with GEM yet to join in and learn about what God is doing in and through our schools.

Local Missions: Dental Bus
On Saturday, January 17th, The Gathering Burgaw will be hosting the Baptists on Mission Dental Bus. The dental bus provides cleanings, extractions, and other light dental work at zero cost - it is a great way to serve the community! On that day, we will need folks to take vitals, welcome and pray with people, and help provide a light meal for the dental teams (no experience required)!
Please consider signing up to come help that day and please be praying for the people that we will meet on that day.

On January 26th at 7:14pm, Riley’s Creek Baptist Church will be hosting a night of prayer. This night of prayer will be centered around prayer for revival within our community, neighborhoods, nation, and in the world. Please come pray with us!

Mission trip to Washington DC
If you have always wanted to go on a mission trip, this is a great opportunity!
The largest group of unreached people groups in the world are South Asians. “But I can’t fly 9,000 miles.” Good news! The unreached are within reach!
Here are some of the Unreached People Groups in Washington, DC:

So, here is your opportunity to get involved!
When and where will the trip be?
Washington DC on March 17-21, 2026
What will we do?
We will meet each morning for worship, prayer, and simple EV training for reaching out to Muslims, especially. We will also touch on engaging Hindus. In Northern Virginia, this will include a lot of entering restaurants and shops and engaging South Asians who are working, shopping, or just present. This trip will take place near the end of Ramadan and will coincide with celebrations among the Muslim population. There will be opportunities to knock on doors and offer Bibles and literature also, but if cold-calling is not something you are comfortable doing, it is not required.

Spring Craft Market
This day will be an epic opportunity to bring people into the front yard, support vendors, share the Gospel with people, and invite them to Easter worship. We will have coffee, food, bounce houses, and more at this fun family event for the whole community!
This event will also serve as a fundraiser for getting new playground equipment in the future.

MFUGE Camp
MFUGE SUMMER CAMP IS ALMOST HERE!
This year we are taking our teen students to MFUGE at Camp Ridgecrest in Black Mountain, NC! It’s a 1300 acre conference center dedicated to providing a super fun camp experience for kids where they will hear the Gospel. There are multiple tracks that campers get to participate in that include Evangelism, Games and Rec, Painting, and Construction. With all tracks is a mission focus that prepares students to serve the communities that God has placed them in.
Camp will take place June 13th - 17th this year.

NC Baptists Singers + Orchestra
On Monday Night, October 20th, The NC Baptists Singers and Orchestra will be performing at the Fort Caswell Conference Center in Oak Island. It will be a phenomenal evening of worship and music. Also, one of The Gathering’s very own will be performing in the choir! Let’s support Randy and spend a wonderful evening worshipping and fellowshipping together!

Christmas Eve Worship
Christmas time is so special. It’s the time of year that we travel, spend time with family and friends, rest from work and school, and exchange gifts. These moments make for sweet memories, no doubt, but the greatest opportunity that we get during this time of year is worshipping Christ. We celebrate his birth because he is the Savior of the world and his birth signaled that hope is alive - relationship with God is possible!
So, let celebrate together! On December 24th, we will have a candlelight service and a time of communion. Invite your family and friends as we worship Jesus together. He is, after all, the reason for the season!
Christmas on the Square
On December 20th, the Town of Burgaw will be holding Christmas on the Square! It is a town-organized event that draws bunches of people from all around. That makes it a great opportunity for us! We will be setting up a tent that day to make some community connections and invite some folks to worship, but more importantly we want to offer prayer, share the Gospel, hand out Bibles, and remind folks what Christmas is all about!
We will need your help! If you would like to help man the tent that day, sign up below. the tent must be occupied from 10am-4pm that day. Setup begins at 8am that morning. It’s not necessary to stay all day, but if you can, that would be amazing!
Keep in mind that even if you are not quite comfortable sharing the Gospel or praying with others by yourself yet, it is a great opportunity to try! Step out of your comfort zone and let’s work together as a family!

Local Missions: Turkey Day Turkey Giveaway
On the Saturday before Thanksgiving, we will have the opportunity to serve the community! From 12-2pm on November 23rd, we will hand out free turkeys with no strings attached. We will have the opportunity to pray with folks, share the Gospel with them, and see if they have any other needs. So, let’s spend some time together, hand out some turkeys, and see how we can serve this community that we love!
Local Missions: OCC Packing Night
Operation Christmas Child Boxes are almost due!
Let’s pack some together! Wednesday, November 19th, we will have boxes ready to stuff, just show up and get packing!
If you would like to donate supplies, you can bring them in the weeks leading up to the packing day.
Box drop off week is 17th - 24th this year.
Our goal for this year is 75 boxes. Let’s get it done!

The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted Conference

Family Foundations Ministry of Baptists on Mission is sponsoring “The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted Conference” with speaker Dr. Gary Chapman (author of The 5 Love Languages). This is a one-day marriage conference.
The cost of the conference will be $40 per couple, and includes everything for the day (handouts, workbook, program fee, box lunch, and water for break). This conference will be held at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church in Pleasant Garden, NC (near Greensboro).

Gathering Women Fall Conference
Join us for a powerful weekend of inspiration, worship, creativity and connection. Through a live pottery demonstration by keynote speaker, Darlene Eason, you will experience a place where art and faith meet. Expect to be refreshed, encouraged and reminded of the divine artistry at work in your own life.
Tickets are only $25 and include admission to both Friday evening and Saturday, a fun swag bag and all conference materials. You will also be treated to yummy food with a delicious dessert bar Friday and a light breakfast and lunch on Saturday.
Childcare is also available (until sold out) Saturday from 8am - 3:30pm for children ages 18 months - 10 years. Cost is $5 per child and includes snacks and lunch for them as well. Be sure to sign up when you purchase your conference ticket.

Ladies Trail Walk
Calling all ladies!
Every first Saturday of the month, we will be gathering at the Rotary Park shelter at 8am to hang out together and walk the Osgood Trail. If you’re not up for walking the trail, that’s okay too! Bring a craft to work on with other ladies at the shelter!
Make sure to bring some sunscreen and good walking shoes! We’re going to have a blast together!

He will also be available to answer questions about The Gathering’s Mission opportunities. Please attend this night prepared to learn how you can get involved and be praying for missions, both locally and abroad.
Community End of Summer Bash
Let’s end summer with a bang!
There will be a FREE community event on Sunday, August 17th, from 2-5pm to celebrate the end of summer. There will be bounce houses, games, face painting, cotton candy, and free hotdogs! Invite your neighbors, friends, family, and coworkers out to one of the biggest events of the year! We’re going to have a great big time!

Clean Up Day
Clean Up Day!
On August 10th, after worship, we will share a meal together and then start cleaning up and sprucing up the facilities. There are a few small construction projects that we will work on as well. So, bring your tools, cleaning supplies, and maybe even a trailer to haul some stuff in!
Thank you for your help as we steward this place that God has given us to worship at! Can’t wait to serve with you!
